Patch Test

What is a Patch Test?
As with all advanced skin treatments our priority is to ensure we offer exceptional results whilst working at the highest standards of safety. A patch test is conducted in order to assess the skin's reaction whilst evaluating and confirming the correct machine setting and individual’s tolerance levels. In the unlikely event of an adverse side effects occurring the reaction is limited and minimal due to only being completed on a small area of skin. You must let the practitioner know straight away if you think you have had a reaction. If there is no reaction and you and the practitioner are happy to proceed your first treatment session can be carried out 24 hours after the patch test.

For optimum results a minimum of 6 treatments are recommended, however we work on an individual basis. Please seek further information from your practitioner.

Our consultation and patch test fee is priced at £25 and will be redeemed against your first laser treatment.

Flexibility

Pre Treatment

1 MONTH + BEFORE

Individuals that have undertaken a prescribed acne medication course such as Roaccutane or Isotretinoins from their GP or Dermatologist must have completed their course 6-12 months prior to receiving Laser Hair Removal procedures. We always recommend to see approval and guidance from the prescribing GP prior to conducting a LHR course.

You cannot have laser treatments if you are on any photosensitising medications, antibiotics, St John's Wart, cortisone or similar.

Individuals must not have Botox or Fillers inserted into the treatment area 4 weeks prior to scheduled appointment.

1-2 WEEKS BEFORE

The client must not be exposed to UV Rays 2 Weeks prior to scheduled appointment.

The treatment area must NOT be artificially tanned via sun exposure or fake tan . Treatment will NOT be conducted at the scheduled appointment.

The individual should not conduct beauty treatments that physically remove the hair follicle such as waxing or threading 2-4 weeks prior to schedule appointment and for the duration of the LHR package course.

The client should remove skincare actives such as Retinol, AHA’s and BHA’s that are applied to treatment area from daily skincare routine 1 week prior to scheduled appointment.

The use of essential oils should cease 48 hours before laser treatment.

Following guidance from GP or Dermatologist the individual may be advised to cease or limit the use of photosensitising medication to prevent possible reaction from use of laser beam light.

Day Before and Day of Treatment

DAY BEFORE & DAY OF THE TREATMENT

24-48 Hours prior to scheduled appointment the client should shave the treated area. Shaving the day of the treatment is not advised due to the increased risk of skin irritation post treatment. It may cause the treatment to have to stop due to a reaction.

If the individual suffers with regular cold sores then please seek guidance from GP / Pharmacist in taking anti-viral medication 24 hours prior to scheduled appointment.

Please arrive to the appointment with cleansed skin, free of make up, body skincare product, deodorant and perfume.

Underarms should be exfoliated at least 24 hours before and no deodorant applied until 24 hours AFTER the laser treatment.

Post Treatment

48 HOURS POST TREATMENT

You may experience mild heat and redness in areas that have been treated. Soothe any redness and sensitivity by utilising recommended products such as Aloe Vera Gel. This can be applied liberally for 3-5 days or until the skin has returned to its pre-treatment state.

Clientele that have received LHR on certain body parts may feel more comfortable and decrease the risk of friction by wearing loose fitted underwear or clothing.

For the first 72 hours the individual must not undergo activities that increase sweat glands and blood flow such as excessive exercise, saunas, hot showers or baths and steam rooms.

NO sun exposure (protected or unprotected). The client should be utilising a minimum of SPF30 in their daily skincare routine.

For LHR on the face - make up should not be worn for the first 24 hours to avoid irritation.

1-2 WEEKS POST TREATMENT

Careful sun exposure may resume 2 weeks after previous scheduled appointment. The individual must wear daily a minimum of factor 30 SPF. Clients are reminded that sun exposure must cease 2 weeks prior to next scheduled appointment. Tan via sun exposure or artificial false tan would result in the treatment area unable to proceed.

The client may begin to gentle exfoliate the skin again.

Advanced beauty and aesthetic procedures may resume 2 weeks post treatment. The client is reminded to cease treatments 4 weeks prior to next appointment.
